Troubleshooting Profile Issues
If Windows does boot, but does so slowly, then you need to identify what is delaying the process.
- configure verbose status messages during Windows load sequence by:
- configure a system policy, or
- apply a registry setting to enable “Display highly detailed status messages”
System Delays Prior to Sign-in
- caused by loading drivers and services
- common culprit is some type of network service or configuration not working optimally
- could be file corruption
System Delays Loading Desktop Following Sign-in
- can be cause by a corrupt user profile
- Registry settings file
NTUSER.DATis prone to this
- Registry settings file
- Rebuilding local user profile
- creates a new account
- copies files from old account to the new
- excludes
NTUSER.DAT,NTUSER.DAT.LOG, andNTUSER.INI
- excludes
