SOHO Backups


  • For SOHO (small office/home office) with no central file server
  • Use Windows supplied backup software
  • Backup to external hard drive or cloud storage

Windows

  • Backups are implemented via File History feature
    • Settings > Update & Security > Backup
  • can configure local drive or network folder as the storage destination
  • can choose which folders to backup
  • can set a schedule for the backup job
  • To restore a file or folder, use Previous Versions tab in the Properties dialog box
  • To restore multiple files, use the File History applet (Restore Files with File History)
  • Backup and Restore Center control panel tool is an alternative backup manager
    • can make image backups of entire OS
