Quick Assist is a Windows support feature allowing remote screen-sharing over the internet

  • uses encrypted HTTPS port TCP 443
  • helper must be signed into a Microsoft account
  • helper generates a passcode to provide to sharer
  • included as part of Windows 10 feature updates

Weakness

Both Remote Assistance and Quick Assist do not allow tasks that require UAC consent in default configuration.

  • to enable:
    • disable Secure Desktop feature of UAC
    • or, UAC notifications need to be turned off or set to lower level
  • Weakens security of system
