Physical controls protect the physical environment in which your systems sit, or where your data is stored.

  • control access in and out of environment
  • are tangible and manual
  • Prevent, deter, and detect access to sites and hardware
  • E.g.,
    • fences, gates, locks, bollards, guards, cameras, lighting, alarms
    • also systems that maintain the physical environment
      • heating and air conditioning systems, fire suppression, backup power generators
